This is probably one of the most photographed beaches in the Mediterranean. A protected natural lagoon is sheltered by tree lined hills and a shallow spit of white fine pebbly sand gently shelving into the warm turquoise blue sea. No wonder its been declared a Conservation area of natural beauty. The beach is perfect for swimming and snorkelling from, and is easily reached by regular and inexpensive dolmus (mini bus) running trough Ovacik. From the beachside restaurants and bars you can observe the paragliders descending from the Babadag mountain above… a pursuit not for the faint hearted! Click images to enlarge
Other places to visit accessible by boat include the Saklikent gorge, Butterfly Valley accessible by boat from Olu Deniz, accessible by car or bus the ancient settlements of Tlos and Xanthos, the river town of Dalyan with is turtle beach, rock tombs and mud baths, and the long white sand Patara beach, and the yachting center and Sunday market town of Gocek.
